Marlene Weisman

I'm a Brooklyn based artist working in collage, painting, and assemblage. I find endless inspiration incorporating everyday materials into my pieces. I find that the playful use of ephemera in art can make serious universal statements about contemporary values, material culture, and a society that sometimes seems to be spinning out of control.  Another huge focus of my work is the roles of modern women in today's demanding world. My life experience as an artist, career person and mother has provided me with a lot of subject matter to express.

Besides mixed media art, I am a graphic designer. My career began in the music industry, where I designed the graphics for rock, punk, and jazz artists. After that I got interested in television comedy, and ended up in an amazing gig: working in-house at Saturday Night Live for 7 seasons, designing the on-air graphics, props, and sketch logos.  I still have a graphic design freelance practice today, which can be checked out at
